Day 8-16... big OOPS

I think I failed at this write a poem a day challenge.
But I couldn't help it if

     my immune system's defenses were down
     and a stupid cold bullied it
     beating it up in the schoolyard, taking its lunch money.

or if

     sometimes you just want to step away
     not even to reset,
     just step away from the madness of 5:45pm traffic.

or if

     I picked up some other (weird) hobby-
     I kept one plant alive for a year
     let's add another 4 to the mix and test my maternal skills.

or if

     I just ran out of excuses and have not been motivated
     to write a poem a day these last...
     8 days.
